Everybody hates chasing after someone for something when it relates to business — particularly when it’s part of your job to chase after people for stuff. And a lot of times, the stuff you’re chasing them for is for their own benefit. Want an easy way to cover your ass in this situation?
When you send out an initial email and get no response, send a follow up. But in that follow up, say “I’m just following up on this per the email below. Unless I hear back from you on this, I will consider this matter/thread closed.”
Check it off your list and move on. You’ve transferred responsibility without being a jerk. Happy Emailings.
